Question:
Is the ability to offer a server management feature such as IPMI 2.0 on the 939 platform a feature that you would like to have even if it costs slightly more per node? It would appear that BMC or IPMI was a favorable specification on the first RFP.?
Answer:
The bid requests TWO responses: one for a system with IPMI 2.0, and one for a system with NO BMC. Based on costs we will then determine if BMC capability is worth it for us.

Question:
Would you consider a Dual Core Xeon based solution?
Answer:
No. Testing on our codes indicates that AMD processors perform better, and are more power-efficient.

Question:
Could you accept the rack dimension: 70" x 19" x 30" (40U instead of 42U)?
Answer:
Yes. Larger racks are not acceptable, but smaller racks are OK, provided that they are not too small. 40U is fine.

Question:
Obviously, Bruce is not interested in the Xeon processor. We have just delivered a large Pentium D cluster to a customer, which is the dual core "Pentium 4" type processor, which is a good competitor for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 product. Would they consider this processor, which can utilize true server boards, which have management capabilities which are not generally available for the Athlon processors, as it is not designed for servers.
Answer:
No. Testing on our codes indicates that AMD processors perform better, are more power-efficient, and have a higher bandwidth link to memory.

Question:
Should the rack equip with casters (wheels)?
Answer:
Yes, please. This will make it easier for us to move these systems around and put them into place.
