Methodology
for configuring Dell Switches
Initial set-up of
Switch
First, set the computers NIC to
a static IP address of 192.168.2.2 (the switch default address is
192.168.2.1).
Next, push the recessed -Managed
Mode- button once. This should light the managed mode LED
underneath the power LED.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the
computer to the switch.
In a web browser (Internet
Explorer 6.x or Netscape 7.x), type the IP address 192.168.2.1 and
the next should look like the picture below.
The User Name is: admin and the
password field is empty on a non-configured switch.
As shown in the example below,
click on the IP Addressing
Configuring LAG group
membership
As in the example below, click on
the LAG Membership.
b) Next, as
prescribed by the administrator, change the port membership by
clicking in the empty box underneath each number. When you click, the
empty box will show an (M) to show that it’s a member of a LAG
group.
To change group membership, click
on the drop down member; the default group is one as in the example
above. There are 6 different membership groups total.
