Subject: What next after LDAS 1.0?
As we get the DASWG moving forward on outstanding software issues,
I would like the four of you to produce a brief (2-page) report on
what should happen to LDAS development after the release of LDAS 1.0.
In preparing the report, I would ask that you consider the following issues:
1) Accessibility of LDAS to the LSC. Please consider, among
other things, ease of use.
2) Platform and other support of LDAS.
3) Personnel requirements if LDAS goes into maintenance mode
with the release of LDAS 1.0. Please compare to requirements
for development of LDAS 1.0 or continued development of all
components of LDAS.
4) Possibility to extract pieces of LDAS 1.0 as components of
a revised on-line analysis system.
Your report will be brought to the DASWG for discussion. After the
broader discussion, we will bring a recommendation to the executive
committee for adoption at the March LSC meeting.
Whatever the outcome of discussions within the DASWG, I plan to
reconsider all questions relating to software starting in early 2005
when I hope we can start strategic planning for Advanced LIGO data
analysis.
Thanks,
Patrick
