Minutes
Attendance: Stuart Anderson Kent Blackburn John Zweizig Shourov Chatterji Brian Moe Patrick Brady (minutes) Keith Thorne Igor Yakushin Junwei Cao Xavier Siemens Greg Mendell Ben Johnson New structure: bylaws require identification of working group chairs and three at large members for the Data Analysis Software Committee. Basically, we will have each project lead on the committee and three members at large. See the leadership sub-heading of the web page. Operation by consensus rather than voting. FC4 and O/S for future: Junwei asked about FC5 support. Stuart asked where we go next. General discussion suggests that we can stay put with FC4 for ~12 months, but not longer. ** Will get a subcommittee to examine the options ** Stuart mentioned problems with FC4, NIS+ and glibc. Condor up to RHEL3. Needs stubs for FC4 glibc. Last call for VDT on RH7.3 and RH9: We're ok to drop this. Update on VDT installing its own python: Alain thnks there is a bug in pacman rules. He will work with Junwei. He ran 32 bit and found it did not install a new version of python. Condor related issues: There will be a release of 6.8.1 in a few days. Fix to condor_run -force crash. NFS log file issue. Checkpoint issue and schedd looping restart. Will upgrade at CIT, then will upgrade elsewhere. Nemo: Shourov poked around. Was able to run condor. Needs more documentation of where things are, policies on back-ups, scratch, etc. Having an ldas-jobs web server is highly desirable. Some software he wanted was missing. Paul installed. Shourov asked about getting our web pages under a wiki. Patrick commented that software tools don't fix the problems, people fix the problems. Matlab is being worked on actively by Keith and Paul Armor. Frame spec change: There was discussion of the request from Benoit to make a change to the frame spec. This led to the idea of discussing with Benoit at the LSC meeting and formation of a sub-committee to address possible changes. Igor has no update on frame 6.20 bug he found. Certificate request problems: Patrick will ask Warren, Kent and Junwei to look into this and update our scripts. 64 bit: Most of our software is now in LSCSOFT. DMT offline not tested against root, framecpp, etc.
