GWDAW-8 Abstract: Constant Q transforms for gravitational wave burst detection

We present novel methods for maximizing the detectability of gravitational-wave bursts of specific Q's which implement logarithmic tiling in the time-frequency plane. We also demonstrate adaptive whitening by linear prediction, which greatly simplifies our statistical analysis. Finally, we consider techniques for selecting significant events across multiple time-frequency planes and present the detection efficiencies of the proposed algorithms for gravitational wave bursts in simulated LIGO data.
