GWDAW-8 Abstract: Revised Inspiral Rates for double neutron star systems.

Inspiraling binary pulsar systems are good candidates for being detected by gravitational-wave detectors such as LIGO. For binary pulsars like the prototype Hulse-Taylor pulsar, even rates can be predicted based on the properties of the observed Galactic sample. We use our recently developed statistical analysis and present new results on the inspiral rate of relativistic binary pulsars in view of the recent discovery of a highly relativistic binary pulsar J0737-3039. These results have important implications for the detection of double neutron star inspiral by the first-generation detectors.
