GWDAW-8 Abstract: Issues on template implementation for the binary black hole inspiral search

Eirini Messaritaki · UWM · LIGO

The BCV templates are a family of detection-only templates that can be used to identify, via matched-filtering, the presence of a BH-BH inspiral signal in the data, for binary black hole systems of total mass between 10 and 40 solar masses. In this talk we present the different issues that arise when incorporating the frequency-domain BCV templates in the search code. Such issues include the maximization of the signal-to-noise ratio with respect to the extrinsic parameters of the templates and the implementation of the chi-squared veto.
