Burst Group External Collaboration Overview

Overview of Active or Possible External Collaboration

Name of external person(s), group, or scientific collaboration:

LVD (Large Volume Detector)

Brief description of collaborative activity (one sentence):

Get times of neutrino events for correlated analysis with GW transients.

Contact person(s) in the LSC+Virgo collaborations:

Eugenio Coccia, Erik Katsavounidis

External contact person(s):

Walter Fulgione

How does/would this collaborative activity benefit the LSC and Virgo?

Provide GC neutrino candidate event times for potential GW detection.

Are there other individuals/groups who could provide similar benefits?

Super-K, IceCube, KamLAND. If so, what is the scientific and/or practical justification for pursuing this particular collaboration?
Good galactic coverage

Are any joint proposals planned to be submitted, e.g. for funding or for telescope time?

Describe any paper(s) which will/might result from this collaboration

Search for GW bursts associated with gravitational collapse neutrino candidates.

What preliminary studies (if any) have been done or are currently being done?

Flat time-coincidence analysis with time-shifts to assess background. Studies to quantify increased detection chance and ability to extract core-collapse waveform models.
