- Background estimation: multiplicity of triggers makes background
estimate 10% higher than expected. A loud signal would show up in ~10
of the ~70 slides. This is a systematic error. More significantly,
the search is not truly blind since a loud signal would easily show
up in the tuning slides.
- First-principles calculation of efficiency done in white paper.
AURIGA limits sensitivity, so calibation uncertainties of AURIGA are
only systematic on overall sensitivity.
- Figure 3 of paper was incorrectly made. Will be remade.
- Issue of intervals bounded away from zero: It was felt that it would
be important to make a diagnostical statement if there were an excess
(which could be due to some correlated instrumental effect). However,
a statement about GW events couldn't be an interval since it would need
to be established that the lower bound results from GW bursts rather than
some unknown correlated noise. Figure 8 would not be constructed
with an interval. Peter Shawhan proposes adding language similar to
"The upper limit on gravitational wave events is the upper bound
of the Feldman-Cousins interval".
