Minutes

  1. GRB070201 Search
    • V03 inspiral results. Would like a histogram of difference between end time and tccmax.
    • Jolien will write down effective distance calculation with predicted Deff at 90% efficiency.
    • Systematic uncertainties: Need to account for abs(R), arg(R), D_M31, MonteCarlo error.
    • Proposal 10% in abs(R), 10 deg in arg(R), 10% in D_M31, and binomial distribution for MC.
    • Issue of calibration: gamma used in injection was from Official V03 Calibration, which was unity for the epoch of GRB070201. Isabel uses a table of gamma values that were subsequently computed for GRB070201. The values are about 1.03. This means:
      qinj = h / RV03
      while if we had used the true calibration we would have
      qtrue = h / Rtrue
      so
      qinj = (Rtrue / RV03) qtrue
      now the response function is
      R = (1 + gamma G)/(gamma C) ~ 1/(gamma C)
      take gammaV03 = 1, gammatrue = 1.03,
      qinj ~ (1/1.03) htrue
      so it seems that the injections are about 3% smaller than anticipated. This (over)covers uncertainty in calibration factors.
