Minutes

  1. Announcements
    • Need to commission teams for S4-CosmicString search and for the high-frequency Q-pipeline search.
    • Sergey and Patrick have circulated proposals for combining multiple experiments. When does this need to be decided? Later this week or next. Peter Shawhan is supposed to validate proposals.
  2. Reports from Burst Review Teams
    • Peter Kalmus for SGR-Flare review: Ben is reviewing paper, Kipp the code. Possibly opening the box before the LSC meeting. CWB part: no decision yet, but leaning toward not including it because of the time pressure, length constraints, and difficulty combining statistics.
    • Patrick Sutton for S4-LIGO-GEO: Final checklist has been drawn-up. Paper in flux with discussions about how to present coherent statistics. Goal is to have a draft to the Review Committee and the Burst Group for next Monday's review meeting. Will pencil this in on agenda. Hopefully a final LSC presentation at the LSC meeting.
  3. Review of BurstMDC Simulation
    • Keith updated "What's left to do?" document [ PDF ] with boxes of things to do.
    • Looked at Adding Waveform Interpolation to GravEn enote entry [ HTML ]
      • Linear interpolation seems to fix phase errors.
      • Shift in hrss. (Not discussed what the origin of this is!)
      • Need to understand if there are amplitude errors (linear interpolation is a low-pass filter) and investigate other interpolation schemes (e.g., sinc interpolation.
    • Skimmed Notes on Planning Calibration Systematics MDC Study enote entry [ HTML ].
    • Reviewed genburstmdc up to line 270. Did not review getgravenlogs or getbursthrss yet.

      Notes:

      • Only one level of subdirectories handled.
      • Hack to handle case when V2 and VIRGO (say) logs are both present.
      • Line 234: should be a "continue" or an "else"?
      • Injections are "same" if GPS time is same... no additional checks made.
  4. A.O.B.: None.
