Minutes

  1. Announcements
    • None.
  2. Reports from Burst Review Teams
    • Norna: Block Normal: finished review of data conditioning. Moving on to implementation.
    • Keith: Opening Block Normal box: widen time coinc window to 100 ms to get long WNBs. Plan is to possibly open box on Wednesday.
  3. Update on S4 LIGO-GEO burst search paper [ PDF ] (CVS version).
    • Sensitivity estimation: Gabriele and Giovanni (Padua) doing calculation; Patrick will do a detection too; Igor doing an investigation of 4-detector network.
    • Description of cWB. Take from cWB paper?
    • Meeting on Wednesday.
  4. A.O.B.
  5. Review of BurstMDC Simulation
    • Tests of Waveform Delay Algorithms [ HTML ] and [ HTML ]
      • Snap to nearest: fails delta-t test.
      • Linear interpolation: need to correct amplitude and when you do this can fail the delta-t test (because the amplitude weighted centroid gets shifted).
      • Sinc-interpolation: works. Use this.
    • Continue reviewing genburstmdclog.
      • NOTE: last time we reviewing HEAD which was genburstmdclog but we should have been reviewing the version given above (v.1.13 vs. v.1.15). What was line 270 corresponds to line 232 in version 1.13. Start from here.
      • Glanced at trimgravensimid ... seems OK.
      • Reviewed getbursthrss. This code does nothing (which is the correct behavior) because calling routine strips out tildes in simType. This code should be removed.
      • CHECKME: getbursthrss rate is used earlier in line 155 -- is that OK too???
      • Peak time: computed for each detector. Not so convenient for network methods. Instead compute the peak time at the centroid of h+ and hx separately. New code required.
      • Reviewed getbeampattern which basically wrapsGravEn's detproj, which has been reviewed before. In 2004 polarization angle definition was supposedly checked to make sure it agrees with Anderson et al.
      • Still need to review:
