Minutes

  1. Announcements
    • Next week: bring s5-1yr teams together.
  2. Reports from Burst Review Teams
  3. Report from S4 LIGO-GEO burst search review team [ PDF ] (CVS version).
    • Following up segment list problem. Bugs found in some scripts. Quite a few things have been done. Review team might need more time.
    • Completed version of paper on Thursday last week. Team hasn't had a chance to go through it yet.
    • Report not this week. Will confirm ahead of time. (Probably in two weeks.)
    • Threshold tuning redo? Claim is that the WB threshold (set to yield a particular FA rate) would not have been affected by the segmentation change. Only threshold that might have been tuned differently is Gamma, which matters very little -- a few percent -- less than systematics.
    • Since comparison is critical for part of the conclusions, should re-look at tuning to make sure that we have achieved a sweet-spot given the new segmentation.
    • Can estimate this analytically (how much drop Zg to get same FAR) -- probably 5%?? Discuss off-line.
  4. A.O.B.
    • Burst MDC code....
      • Reviewed: rdcolumnhead.html: line 34 not needed; line 44 not needed; colHead is a cell array, not a string [CHECK].
      • Reviewed: addstructarray.html. Note: if new data has extra fields, ignore them! (Could add error checking here....). Note: only works if fields are vectors rather than arrays. Should add checks at line 15 and 16 to make sure that field names match and lengths match.
      • Completed review of BurstMDC_S5_R2 ... next time do updates to get to BurstMDC_S5_R3.
