    • Not sure what to do with time for this meeting. Perhaps we need a second meeting for 1st year S5 review.
  2. Update on status of S5 1st Year Burst Search Paper [ HTML ]
    • Expecting to have an updated draft 2-3 wks from last week's burst group meeting.
    • cWB: applied dQ flags. Done. Review on-going. Work divided. Beginning to fill in blank spots in document. Working on paper. Within 2 weeks will have more structure.
    • BlockNormal: Keith will provide plots; update paper to newest algorithm (2 wks). Review: Badri will take Michele's outline and fill it in. Aiming to complete review by end of July. Doing Gaussian MDCs.

  4. Review of BurstMDC Simulation
    • Discussion of MDC sets to generate:
      • Current proposal: Reduce from 5 sets to 3. Reduction of number of scale factors by a factor of 2 in two of the MDC sets. Number of sets is: 5 * 23 changed to 2 * 12 + 1 * 23.
      • Can do better than this, but it will start to change the efficiency calculation procedure. Is it worthwhile?
      • Reduce waveform morphologies? Sergey thinks we should not reduce morphologies otherwise ETGs may be tuned for SGs.
      • Keith thinks that using a continuous set of amplitudes would be too radical if we want to have results by Amsterdam. Would have to write new fitting scripts.
      • Full MDC set would probably take ~2 wks to process with the propsed MDC set.
    • Review of graven.m
      • Comment below line 322 is wrong, but code is correct: detStartGps is lower edge of first sample. When talking about central times, the time is half a sample later. E.g., if timeseries has a 1 at sample 0 and 0 at all other samples then this is equivalent to a square with height 1/dt for time t=0 and t=dt where dt is the sample interval. This has a middle at sample 0.5.
