Minutes

  1. Announcements
    • S5y2/VSR1 review pages set up for CWB, Omega, EGC
    • Sergey: need to speed up analyses to have S5y2/VSR1 paper by December LSC meeting.
  2. Update on status of S5 1st Year Burst Search Paper [ HTML ]
    • Siong: HF review update. Two items pending: sensitivity estimate (Michele), astrophysically motivated waveforms (Jonah). Also, calibration issue (Brennan + Calibration team).
    • Astrophysically-motivated waveforms. Reviewing conditioning and conversion of units.
    • Caution about how to present waveforms.
    • Sergey: HF search for second year: question about calibration. Calibration group planning V4 calibration. Is anyone planning to use it? V3 has not been approved for high-frequency search.
    • Brennan is trying to figure out how much effort would be required to validate the V3 calibration at high frequency.
    • What is the timescale for the V4 calibration?
  3. Reports from Burst Review Teams
  4. Discussion of equinox event review document [ PDF ]
    • Agree in principle that it is OK to go to Detection Committee with a living detection document (i.e., we don't need to have a final, completely signed-off document before going forward), but we want to see more complete discussion of other searches involved (Omega, EGC) before bringing the document to the DC.
    • Omega-Pipeline sigificance at 4/yr with ranking method.
    • Current ranking statistic does not check consistency of Hanford and Livingston -- this is a big part of why the event is significant in CWB.
    • Figures on Page 10. Why are there clusters of triggers? Image effect? Need to investigate.
    • Sergey: code review needed for Omega pipeline.
  5. A.O.B.
