Minutes

  1. Announcements
  2. Discussion of the S5 1st Year Burst Search Paper [ HTML ]
    • Discussion of dq flags.
      • Does livetime get reduced by Cat2 and Cat3 vetoes or does the efficiency go down? What was the difference with S4?
      • S4: duration of a trigger is compared to vetoed interval. This means that there is a variable window.
      • S5: peak time of trigger is compared to vetoed interval.
      • Efficiency: only include injections that were made into clean time in computing efficiency; livetime is the total amount of livetime.
      • What about a injection in clean time, next to vetoed time ... if its peak time is measured to be in vetoed time, is it rejected? This would be conservative.
    • Need to get consistency between ETG descriptions.
    • Plots need to follow convention of previous papers (error bars on background, not foreground).
    • Patrick will help with statistics section.
    • Sigmoid fits -- not clear how this is being done because that section is missing.
    • Figure 11: need comment on outliers in background; need comment about foreground event in zero lag (in bottom plot) that is just below threshold but seems quite significant; also need grey region showng the 1-sigma range for the background.
    • Figure 9: would be nice to see thresholds. Error bands on background; no bars on foreground.
  3. Reports from Burst Review Teams
  4. A.O.B.
    • Reviewers should read LF and HF papers and give comments.
