Minutes

  1. Announcements
    • S5y1 LF paper: iterating over past few days; hoping to transmit to LSC on Tuesday. Final figures don't need to be there necessarily.
    • Stack-a-flare: can it go out to LSC? Review Committee hasn't seen paper or review report yet.
  2. Report from the S4 Cosmic String Review Team
    • Review presentation [ PDF ]
    • Review document [ PDF ]
    • Paper draft [ PDF ]
    • Amplitude errors for low frequency signals -- does the amplitude consistency veto real signals? A. No: there is a lot of slop in the test.
    • Injections handled in exactly the same way the non-injection runs.
    • Was it better to run in A rather than SNR? A. No: got lucky in this run... next time go with SNR.
    • Rate vs. A plot: compare to normal burst style histogram.
    • 30% discrepancy -- this is comparing to a really crude estimate.
    • Why do we have two different curves: those ruled out at 90% level and those that produce any events whatsoever. Why the latter? Seems to be dependent on SNR. Take this off line.
    • 50% points don't seem to agree... mismatch between runs.
  3. A.O.B.
