Minutes

  1. All-sky paper
    • Author list: Sent to Shawhan.
    • Figure 1: Done (Shawhan).
    • Section VIII: Not done (Owen).
    • Virgo report: Not done.
  2. On-line analysis
    • LUMIN trigger rate. Whitcomb: Too many. Shawhan: 4/day during test period, reality will be 1/day (triple coincidence, should be 0.5/calendar day). Whitcomb: Give me only the real alerts, that way all processes including human veto are fully tested. Being done with SWIFT process, he and Katsavounidis will continue offline.
    • cWB sw injections in S6/VSR2 (Klimenko): Pointing accuracy results similar to JW1. Better with WNB than SGC. Better to plot results as function of rho since this is variable seen in LUMIN (and rho ~ SNR/sqrt(6)).
    • Omega sw injections in S6/VSR2 (Searle): More types of injections than JW1 but less of each type. Results consistent w/JW1. Error box given is deduced from SG injections, thus have smaller coverage for WNB signals. Two plots on slide 8. First provides error angle as function of SNR for different waveforms, large variation observed. Second is population fraction vs angle area for SG253Q3 and different SNR. People want to see this plot for different waveforms too.
    • What next
      • Tomorrow's ad hoc Omega review: summary of changes since all-sky paper, performance on hw injections, non-injected trigger rate
      • Verify overall trigger rate is under control; principles presented last week now look to performance. Maybe do Wednesday.
      • Review LUMIN and SWIFT processor results during test period, if possible Wednesday else Monday.
      • Review procedures to be followed by people on shift, interaction w/control rooms, general organization. First draft of LUMIN procedure available (please look). TBD next time.
