Walk-through of Agenda Items

  1. Status of action items from previous telecons.
    • (Klimenko/Yakushin/Hughey) cWB efficiencies for resampled MDCs
DONE - all tables and figures now using resampled efficiencies.
    • (Sutton) Look at analytic sensitivity estimates
      PENDING
    • Paper modifications:
      • (Heng) Get a P-number for the paper, insert in acknowledgments.
        DONE
      • (Heng) Check of revised Section 2 with GEO instrumentalists.
        PENDING
      • (Heng) Figure 1 is to be updated.
        DONE
      • (Heng) Replace eqn (8) by hrss.
        DONE
  2. Comments on current draft of paper. [ Revision: 1.17 Date: 22 January 2008 ]
    • Sergei Klimenko's marked-up version of the paper, 2008.01.15 [ PDF ]
      • Question to Klimenko: How should cWB and WB be written in the formal paper? Klimenko: "coherent Waveburst" or "cWB", "Waveburst-CorrPower" or "WB-CP".
      • Numerous non-controversial suggestions by Klimenko for minor wording changes.
      • Does not understand the sentence "An all-sky search is tuned to maximise the average detection efficiency across the sky at all observation times."; suggests re-wording. Sutton: Our MDC Monte Carlos do average over sky and observation time. Klimenko: This meaning is not clear to the reader from the current phrasing; should be made explicit.
      • Use abbreviations cWB and WB-CP for lengthy pipeline names.
      • Klimenko: Statement beginning "An assumption underlying ..." is incorrect - no such assumption in WB. Sutton: the assumption is implicit in WB. No consensus on wording.
      • Klimenko: Statement beginning "More generally, one can form linear combinations ..." confusing, also too detailed for intro section. Suggests strike. Sutton: Wrote this, thinks is correct. Riles: At the right level for the introduction. No consensus.
      • Make notation of eqn (1) consistent with that of Section 3.2, eqn (6). Also strike eqn (6) since redundant with (1).
    • Keith Riles's marked-up version of the paper, 2008.01.15 [ PDF ]
      • Statement in paper that r-statistic may not work well for LIGO-GEO. Riles would like to see definitive statement, thinks clear that CorrPower will not work as well for LIGO-GEO. Sutton: Thinks CorrPower will work as well for LIGO-GEO as WB.
Action item: Check with Cadonati about what tests have been done for CorrPower with LIGO-GEO.
      • Still need to clean up language about "efficiency" vs "sensitivity" vs "hrss50".
  3. Discussion of further checks/tests to be requested.
    • Skipped due to lack of time.
  4. A.O.B.
    • None.
