S4 LIGO-GEO Burst Review Committee Meeting Wednesday 20 February 2008 10:00 Eastern

Minutes: Wednesday 20 February 2008 10:00 Eastern

Agenda and Contact Info

Agenda

  1. Comments on current draft of paper. [ Revision: 1.19 Date: 13 February 2008 ]
  2. Discussion of further checks/tests to be requested.
    Proposed tests:
    1. Analytic sensitivity estimates of the hrss50% points for the WB-CP and cWB pipelines.
    2. Look at injections for one of the loudest injection scales. Missed injections should be those with lowest antenna response factors.
    3. Check MDC coverage of coincidence observation time.
    4. Verification of the timing accuracy of GEO.
  3. A.O.B.

Walk-through of Agenda Items

  1. Comments on current draft of paper. [ Revision: 1.19 Date: 13 February 2008 ]
    • Riles: Troubled by moving target nature of description / motivation for analysis. Referenced changes to introduction over last few weeks, and Klimenko email of Feb 19. Wants authors (Heng & Klimenko) to reach consensus on text. Uncomfortable with sending paper out to LSC until certain that authors are unanimous on what is said.
    • page 6: missing references in second paragraph.
    • page 9: definition of polarization angle. Add statement that we use Earth-fixed coordinates and add reference to computing antenna response in those coordinates.
    • page 13: need definition of sigma_k
    • page 14: typo "measure if the correlation" -> "measure of the correlation"? Klimenko: yes.
    • page 15: rank SNR not defined. Klimenko: add reference. Riles: Add brief description too. This is an important quantity, since we threshold on it, so it deserves a couple of sentences.
    • figure 3: remake without connecting line, add error bars. Show all points. Heng will get the data for the plot from Yakushin.
    • Issue of 13.9 dy coincidence time vs 253 hr data processed: Heng reported that 13.9 dy is incorrect. It came from WB log files before veto flags (cat 2) applied. Correct number (including category 2 flags) is ~259 hr. Will update paper. Klimenko: Ran incoherent WB on segments with category 1 applied, and applied category 2 in post-processing. WB-CP: category 2 accounted for in trigger generation. Yakushin send email with details.
Action item: To be resolved (Heng, Klimenko, Yakushin to resolve and send email explanation).
  2. Discussion of further checks/tests to be requested.
    Proposed tests:
    1. Analytic sensitivity estimates of the hrss50% points for the WB-CP and cWB pipelines. To be done by Sutton.
    2. Look at injections for one of the loudest injection scales. Missed injections should be those with lowest antenna response factors. Klimenko sent link to LIGO-only comparison of WB/cWB. Sutton will read page and comment.
    3. Check MDC coverage of coincidence observation time. To be done by Klimenko.
    4. Verification of the timing accuracy of GEO. To be done by Heng.
