About UsThe External Triggers team (or "ExtTrig") is a focused community within the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC) and the Virgo Collaboration that is devoted to searching for gravitational-wave signals associated with astrophysical events observed in other channels, such as optical or gamma-ray photons, or neutrinos. ExtTrig searches for gravitational waves use the extra information from these external triggers to improve the sensitivity and scientific reach of the search. ExtTrig draws its members from the Burst and CBC groups.
New WikiPlease note that this webpage is deprecated and may be out-of-date. It is still the place to find minutes from older telecons. The new wiki: https://wiki.ligo.org/ExtTrig/ .
OrganizationExtTrig is led collectively by Alessandra Corsi, Eric Chassande-Mottin, Ray Frey, Ik Siong Heng, Peter Kalmus, and Zsuzsa Marka. If you would like to help lead ExtTrig you are welcome to do so; just let one of us know. We hold regular telecons every other Thursday, and we have a dedicated email list for ExtTrig issues. If you're an LSC or Virgo member and you're interested in triggered gravitational-wave searches, please sign up to our mailing list and come to our telecons.
Web PagesThis web page is intended as a clearing-house to the many different ExtTrig-related activities in the LSC and Virgo. The links at left and below lead to individual project pages, documents, telecon minutes, etc. Access to information about ongoing analyses is restricted to members of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration. All web pages similar to this one, with the navigation links along the left edge, are kept in a CVS repository and may be edited by following the CVS access quick-start instructions; more details about the LIGO/Virgo CVS are available in the CVS HOWTO.
Teleconferences (NB: the time has moved, please see the wiki)
The regular weekly ExtTrig teleconference is held on Tuesdays at 08:00 Pacific time / 11:00 Eastern time (which normally is 16:00 UK time / 17:00 Central European time). These teleconferences are open to all LSC and Virgo members. Calling instructions are sent to the mailing list and they are also available for LSC and Virgo members under the 'Minutes' link on the left.
